London Update

Well hello there!

Since I last blogged, not much has happened.  Classes started up again, which was a bummer.  Weird that they expect you to go to class to get a Masters.  Unreasonable, I’d say.

I’ve done some fun stuff with friends including:

  • Tapas lunch in Leadenhall Market
  • Brunch at an AMERICAN Diner with AMERICAN bacon and pancakes (!!!)
  • A champagne tasting on the top floor of Millbank Tower, at a bar called Altitude 360 (pretty sweet views of London, but NOT 360 degrees).

The champagne tasting was with a Groupon.  If you haven’t heard of Groupon, google it.  It’s one of the best things ever, and you always get at least like 50% off of what they’re offering.

I also went in on a Groupon with my friend Andrew to do 10 bootcamp sessions.  We started that this week, and I have to say it’s been a very unique experience so far.  Never in my life of intense workouts have I ever been sore immediately afterward, until our first day with Walker Bros Fitness.  We are doing 2 sessions a week for 5 weeks - Monday and Wednesday at 7am.  All sessions outside, rain or shine, in the cold.  But if the level of soreness we’re experiencing correlates with the level of awesome we’re going to look, then it’s all worth it.  It might also be worth it just to be able to look at the Walker Bros for 2 hours a week…

I got my grades this week for “module A,” by the way.  Not too shabby, and much better than I expected.  2 A-’s and 2 B+’s, for a GPA of 3.5.  I’ll take it, and I won’t even ask how steep the curve was to get me up to a B+ in Finance.  (really steep, I assume.)

This weekend should be fun.  It’s a 4-day weekend for me.  I’m going with some friends tomorrow to a taping of a game show called Million Pound Drop (free!).  Then on Monday I’m going to another TV show taping, but we get to screen a movie called Sunshine and Roses and then ask the director questions that will air on TV.  Pretty cool.

Actually next Thursday we’re going to another taping, too!  That one’s some sort of talk show/interview show I think, called The Graham Norton Show.  And then next Friday a few of us are going to see the new version of The Wizard of Oz - since it’s doing preview shows through February we got £10 off tickets!

That’s about it for now.  Hope you all had a good Groundhog Day - just one more holiday they don’t celebrate in the UK.  I’ll never know the true verdict for London, but judging by today winter’s going to end early.  No complaints, it was a glorious day!
