Spring Break! (almost a month later…)

So for my spring break, my mom, her friend Tina, and my step-dad came to visit.  They got here on the day of the Royal Wedding (and the morning AFTER I got home from Edinburgh).

After they checked into their awesome hotel (Hyatt Regency Churchill - try it sometime) we walked down Oxford Street toward my school.  I showed them the craziness of Oxford Street, we stopped at the British Museum to see the Rosetta Stone, saw my school, and then made our way toward where I live.  After showing them my tiny room, we went up to Islington for a burger and then it was back to the hotel to get some sweet free cocktails and appetizers.

The next day was a big London day.  We took the tube into The City and started at The Tower of London, which was super cool.  After that we walked across Tower Bridge, saw City Hall and London Bridge, then continued back up the Thames toward Westminster.  We saw Millennium Bridge and St. Paul’s Cathedral, then made our way toward Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey.  Then it was Buckingham Palace, Wellington Arch, and a peak at Hyde Park and we were done (8 miles later).

The next day was a tour to Windsor Castle, Bath, and Stonehenge.  I had seen both Stonehenge and Bath before, so this was completely unexciting for me.  But the castle was really cool.

After that we were off to Ireland!  The first day we walked around Dublin a little bit, but everything was closed by the time we got to it.  The next day we did a rail/coach tour to the Cliffs of Moher which was really spectacular.  The cliffs, not the rest of the tour.  But still really worth it.  The following day was another rail/coach tour to Cork and Blarney Castle, which was lame.  The castle was amazing and cool, and I kissed the Blarney Stone, but the tour was terrible.  We didn’t get to see any of Cork, and we ended up in Cobh learning about the damn Titanic of all things.  Oh well, we saw the castle…

Then the last day in Dublin we just had til about 1:30 before we had to go to the airport, so we packed in St Patrick’s Cathedral, the Guinness Storehouse, and a brief stop at the Jameson Distillery.

Once we got back to London everyone was pretty beat.  The following day we had to see the rest of London, so I took them to the rest of the big sights.  Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, and then we actually went into Westminster Abbey (which was closed the last time we were next to it).  Westminster Abbey is not very cool.  It’s basically a giant cemetery and I did not enjoy it.  Although it still had the trees and flowers from the wedding in it, which was kind of cool.

Yep, and then we were done.  The next morning they went home.  It was probably the busiest spring break I’ve ever had, and I needed a spring break to recover from it.

You can see my pictures here because for some reason the Tumblr uploader isn’t working right now…

Since then I have started two new classes, scheduled my two last trips for this year, and spent some fun nights out with friends.  It’s hard to believe there’s less than 3 months until I graduate again!

I’ve had to start a more professional blog for my digital publishing class, so if you’re interested at all here it is: Digital Marketing with Megan.
