School’s done, friend is here.

So on Friday, we finished school for good.  We had our presentations for 3M at their headquarters in Bracknell.  It was a very long morning, with a wakeup call at 5:30am and a train at 7:20, but at least it was the last day!  I didn’t get back to my place until about 3:30, and had to finish up a lot of random stuff before I could take a nap.

Then that night there was a big party at my friends’ flat.  It was our last big “class party” of the year, and we did it right as far as I recall.  I had tons of fun, but may have regretted it slightly in the morning!  But I made it to my 10am mani/pedi on Saturday AND my personal training session.  It was more productive than my normal days, but extremely tiring.

Yesterday morning I had to wake up early again to go get my best friend Alex from the airport.  Well, since they put his bag on the NEXT flight out of Newark after his flight (which was one hour later), I have to wait 2 full hours before he came out.  And his phone doesn’t work here, so that was great.  I may have gone to talk to information, the Continental desk at departures, AND called immigration to see if they were holding him.  But after 2 hours, there he was.

We took the tube back to my place to get settled, then headed up to get some burgers.  After that we went to Hyde Park to walk around, and then met up with Sarah so that Alex can borrow her old phone while he’s here.  We all walked together to Buckingham Palace, and then Alex and I explored St James Park.  From there we went to Trafalgar Square, and then we took the bus back to my place.  Alex definitely fell asleep on the bus after telling me multiple times he felt fine and he didn’t think he was too jet-lagged.  Ha.  And not just a light sleep.

That night we met up with my friend Taylor at Bar 55 in Camden Town for their happy hour.  Two-for-one cocktails.  We sat outside and talked for awhile, which was lots of fun.

This morning I wanted to make sure Alex slept as much as he needed to.  So he was up by 9 and we were actually out the door by like 10:30.  We went up to Islington to get him a sim card for Sarah’s phone, then down to London Bridge to see the sights around the City of London.  We walked from London Bridge to the City Hall plaza area, then crossed the Tower Bridge and walked around the Tower.  We decided against going inside because it’s so damn expensive.  Then we walked up to Leadenhall Market to see the inspiration for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter, and then back down to the Thames Path to walk to the St Paul’s area.

We went into St Paul’s, Alex explored the church while I rested my feet (been there before), and then we climbed to the top.  After that we went across Millennium Bridge to see the Globe Theatre, then we caught a bus home.  Exhausted.

Since then we’ve been lazy.  We ordered a pizza and watched my Sunday night shows, and I tried to find jobs to apply for.  So nothing too exciting tonight.

Tomorrow will be the London Eye and the Westminster area, and tomorrow night we go see Bruno Mars.  Gonna be a fun time!
